B. Braun wins the prestigious 73rd "Golden Merchant Award"
The “Golden Merchant Award” is one of the oldest “national-level enterprise” selection awards in the Republic of China, Taiwan and is well-known in the country. To encourage foreign investment in Taiwan, the “Outstanding Foreign Firms” award category was added in 1984. Since then, the selected foreign companies have all been internationally renowned and important multinational businesses that have greatly contributed to Taiwan’s industrial and commercial prosperity. This value is highly treasured by the Taiwanese government. This year in 2019, at the 73rd Golden Merchant Award, B. Braun Taiwan was honored as a winner for the "Outstanding Foreign Firms" category due to our investment, employee benefits and corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Mr. Sinan Esermann, Managing Director of B. Founded in 1989, B. Braun Taiwan has been deeply involved in Taiwan for 30 years. In order to successfully deliver our promise to society – Sharing Expertise – in addition to providing customers with high-quality products, B. Braun regularly holds seminars and workshops in the medical centers and medical schools of northern, central and southern Taiwan. Through Aesculap Academy, doctors, hospital staff and hospital management personnel are given medical expertise and knowledge. The establishment has thus contributed to the interdisciplinary exchange and dialogue of medical healthcare through a wide range of courses; its medical training for doctors, nursing staff, operating rooms, wards, and hospital management staff are acknowledged worldwide. Surgical operation seminars, management seminars, and international seminars are among their CME (Continuing Medical Education) accredited courses. Previous highlights were: Cerebrovascular Skull Base Microsurgery Workshop, the 2019 ”Medical Humanities in Asia-Pacific Forum”, as well as the 6th Aneurysm Surgery Sharing Session and Case Report Competition (Right clip Right Clipping).
B. Braun Taiwan has spared no effort in employee training. In order to keep employees competitive, external teachers are invited to hold several annual trainings, such as teamwork and leadership. For the continuous improvement of our products knowledge, supervisors or colleagues from our other subsidiaries will be invited to train our staff. To enhance cross-department collaboration, we hold summer workshops every year in different cities for our colleagues. Weekly exercise classes and health care seminars are also arranged to support the physical and mental health of employees.
Besides pursuing long-term economic growth, B. Braun Taiwan has always maintained a high degree of corporate social responsibility in the past 30 years. From 2015, we initiated several CSR projects ranging from donating resources to orphanages and providing subsidies for children from rural areas; offering scholarships to primary school children and sponsoring sportswear; organizing medical knowledge summer training camp for children; participating in the "Happy Run" by Raising Children Medical Foundation and baking cookies with Children Are Us Foundation; holding charity fundraising events for Teach for Taiwan, World Peace Organization and Institute for the Blind of Taiwan; and engaging with Association of South-Link Health Care Promotion as we place importance on healthcare issues in Taiwan’s remote villages. Apart from this, with the obligation in mind to develop young people, we proactively engage in campus events by hosting career sharing lectures, job fairs and internship programs, enabling students to experience the work life of healthcare enterprises and workplace environment.
B. Braun Taiwan constantly encourages every employee to be involved in the community and the whole world in which we live and work. By supporting economic development, helping the disadvantaged, and sharing knowledge, we will create a better future for the people of today and for future generations to come.
